Believe it or not, you have the ability to develop undeniable skills that can aid in this endeavor. It’s especially important to keep your motivation in mind…use it as a driving force to fuel the resiliency that is sure to be hiding inside of you.
Skill 1: From the start, you need to know what resiliency is. Study resilience and how it can improve your life. Search for examples of resiliency online, or ask trusted sources what their take on resiliency is. So, this skill is really just gaining the knowledge you need to move forward.
Skill 2: Learn to face stressful feelings head on. Enter with an open mind and curiosity instead negative responses. If you do this, you should be able to pinpoint the meaningful things you can do to control your ability to stay even-tempered when times become chaotic or confusing.
Skill 3: Take a close look at your capability of being realistic with your actions. When you are accountable is shows that you are taking responsibility. It can help you to start questioning your actions and reactions so you can figure out a well-defined plan with which to move forward.
Skill 4: Make sure you have a support system in place to help build your resilience. This can provide the structure and encouragement you need to be successful as you confront stressful situations. Find trusted individuals in your life who can support and assist with problem-solving and taking next steps.
Skill 5: Practice positive self-talk. It can be really challenging to be resilient if you’re giving into negative self-talk and continually beating yourself up. Luckily, it’s more than possible to change your way of thinking. You just have to put in the work and constantly talk yourself up, rather than down. In turn, this can begin to change your conduct and viewpoint.
Skill 6: Be physically active. Yep, here it is again, my two cents on exercising! It’s an amazing way to add some motivation, energy, and confidence to your life. It is also a helpful channel for anxiety, stress, depression, and other stressors that may ail you. Find ways to move your body that work for you and are fun.
Skill 7: Challenge yourself often so you can practice resiliency. You have the ability to strengthen your resilience by giving yourself obstacles to overcome. This can expand your self-confidence and increase your faith in your own strength. You can set yourself up for success, even if you’re a beginner.

Sharpening these skills will help you succeed through the stressful stages of life. Once you figure out how to apply these skills to the situations you are struggling with, you will be sure to find comfort in your strength. I bet you didn’t even know you had this ability! Sometimes all we need is a little knowledge…after that, success will come with practice, so keep at it and find the resiliency within you.
